Event description:
International migration law regulates the movement of persons across borders and boundaries. It is rooted in no single legal instrument or treaty. Rather, the subject is derived from diverse sources of international law ranging from human rights, asylum, consular and diplomatic protection, and extradition to nationality and labor law. Owing to its mixed foundations, international migration law frequently overlaps with international refugee protection and labor rights regimes. This KNOMAD seminar provides an overview of the diverse sources of international law related to migration, and discusses some implications for the Bank’s operations. The seminar’s primary audience are Bank’s staff who work on operations - directly or indirectly - related to migration, but other Bank staff are welcome to attend as well.
